For years, Francine Mayran painted powerful EXPRESSIONISTIC landscapes , in strong colours, evoking for some the violence of SOUTINE.
This was followed by a phase in which she turned toward the NOUVEAUX FAUVES, drawn by the influence of GEORG BASELITZ and more particularly, ANSELM KIEFFER.
In more recent years, she has felt a connection to the work of ZORAN MUSIC.
Her own desire is a reflection on the question of INDIFFERENCE IN THE FACE OF THE DRAMA of the SHOAH and the lessons one should draw from History.

Her canvases are highly worked, intertwining TRACES, STROKES, PIGMENTS; her materials are SMEARED,SCRAPED, PATINA BRUSHED.
These are paintings that are POWERFUL, infused with EMOTION; they give a glimpse of the world she wants to show us. They are paintings that are ANYTHING BUT INDIFFERENT.
